Electronic Poker is a popular game that is able to be wagered on in casinos all over the globe, or alternatively at your house on your computer, through a web connection. The rules are absolutely simple and consist of the player trying to achieve the greatest combination of cards possible in order to come away with cash. On this account it is much the same as a classic game of poker, apart from the line of contact with any other players. Of course, tactics used in a physical game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.

The game of Video Poker starts when the player puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and presses the draw button. A hand of five cards will then be "dealt" on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and gamblers should now choose which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the gambler would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, whether it’s all or none.

After the player has chosen which cards he or she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards will be given out if desired. The game is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.

Normally, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can range from game to game, so that skillful enthusiasts are agile enough to pick the most profitable machine every instance.

After the first round has finished, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that might have been won. Further, some styles of the game allow the gambler an opportunity to increase their winnings, in which instance another hand is played. There are also variations between specific machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
