Electronic Poker is a popular game that is able to be bet on in casinos throughout the world, or alternatively at your house on your personal computer, through a web account. The regulations are absolutely straightforward and involve the player attempting to achieve the greatest mixture of cards possible in order to come away with money. In this respect it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, apart from the interaction with other players. Of course, tactics employed during a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Video Poker begins when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and presses the deal button. A five card hand will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.

The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and bettors will need to now decide which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the gambler would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.

After the bettor has decided on which cards he would like to keep, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards are needed they will be given out. The game is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.

Generally, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the pay out schedule can change from game to game, so that experienced players are able to pick the most money-making ones every time.

Once the initial round has played out, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that they may have won. Additionally, some versions of the game allow the gambler a chance to double their wins, in which case another hand is played. There are also variations among individual machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing elements to enhance playability.
